The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Rakkestad IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Konrad Dziewedik to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evren Tanfer in the 4th minute of play forced Rakkestad IF's goalkeeper Christophe Pourre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Fabiano Ornelas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yıldırım Yaman. Fenerbahçe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabiano Ornelas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Christophe Pourre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evren Tanfer, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Fabiano Ornelas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yıldırım Yaman having to interfere. After 23 minutes of play, Fenerbahçe's Tuncer İribaş made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christophe Pourre was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Rakkestad IF fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Rakkestad IF's Fabiano Ornelas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Yıldırım Yaman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabiano Ornelas, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Anders Salkvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rakkestad IF's attentive Anders Salkvist managed to snatch the ball when Galip Cihansah made a throw-in in the 39th minute of the game. 41 minutes into the game, Fabiano Ornelas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Yıldırım Yaman. Fabiano Ornelas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1. Yıldırım Yaman made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Fabiano Ornelas sent off a good shot on target. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Ornelas made a kick off. In the 55thth minute of the game Fabiano Ornelas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fenerbahçe's Yıldırım Yaman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Fabiano Ornelas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristobal Pepillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fabiano Ornelas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yıldırım Yaman having to interfere. Rakkestad IF made a substitution. Robert Pirès replaced Ion Nediu. Fenerbahçe's Yıldırım Yaman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Pirès in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute Robert Pirès shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yıldırım Yaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute Andrzej Dobrowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yıldırım Yaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. One of Fenerbahçe:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rakkestad IF:s goal. Yıldırım Yaman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joachim Hylland's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Robert Pirès scored 7-1 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yıldırım Yaman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Anders Salkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rakkestad IF fully deserved thier win.
