After 8 played minutes Villaverde Celeste Clube got a freekick which was hit by William Lucas. Nenko Reza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nikifor Vardev in the 12th minute of the match. Roy Makaay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nikifor Vardev recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 20 minutes, Nikifor Vardev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CSKA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nikifor Vardev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Villaverde Celeste Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Martin Petrov was slow to take the kick. During this time CSKA's players had a chance to rest. In the 25th minute, Roy Makaay ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Todor Slaveev was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 35th minute Nikifor Vardev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nenko Reza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Todor Slaveev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Makaay in the 37th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Nikifor Vardev struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Nenko Reza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CSKA. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kıraç Uskan in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Todor Slaveev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Kıraç Uskan, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 61 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Todor Slaveev was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Dino Manfredi made in the 63rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by CSKA's Radoy Patarinski. After 64 played minutes Villaverde Celeste Clube got a freekick which was hit by Tang Qian Xiong. Nikifor Vardev's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nenko Reza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nikifor Vardev got free with Nenko Reza in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in CSKA's zone, Roy Makaay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Todor Slaveev came out of the goal and Roy Makaay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tang Qian Xiong kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Nenko Reza was out of position in the 76 minute of play, and Nikifor Vardev capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nikifor Vardev really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Todor Slaveev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Makaay in the 85th minute of the match.
