Martín Ulloa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Martín Ulloa slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 6th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martín Ulloa got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Escalona in the 13th minute of the match. A collision led to ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Tomás Benavides hit a great ball. After having played for 48 minutes, Guillermo Escalona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Escalona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When Nelsinho Nóbrega fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s protests and gave Nelsinho Nóbrega a yellow card for diving instead. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Juan Benavides made a huge save. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
