In the 10th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Feliciano Ayala. Santos de Buenos Aires FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Danilo Seber struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos de Buenos Aires FC. Feliciano Ayala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Amado Corderall kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Santos de Buenos Aires FC's Feliciano Ayala managed to reach the ball for a save. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Marcin Hodyl sent off a good shot on target. Feliciano Ayala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With a little luck, Santos de Buenos Aires FC's Feliciano Ayala got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hipolito Rozarius recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 90 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Cambiasso came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 96 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santos de Buenos Aires FC the free kick. In the 96th minute of the match Teodosio James sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
