Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Roberto Puch started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the game, Lanús's Roberto Puch nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 14th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baldomero Suarez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lanús's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. With an all-out effort, Lanús's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 20 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Roberto Puch, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Puch in the 22nd minute of play. The Lanús fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Lanús's Roberto Puch looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Lanús was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blair York didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lanús's Arnaldo Mendebal was substituted for Esteve Herrera. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eloy Gaskon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eloy Gaskon, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. If Eloy Gaskon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eloy Gaskon in the 78th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eloy Gaskon's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. In the 82nd minute, Eloy Gaskon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. In the 90th minute Eloy Gaskon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
