The Sneaky sneeks fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Lindsten should have stopped the shot. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Martin Lindsten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Lindsten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play. When Felix Montes fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montes a yellow card for diving instead. After 16 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Hans Håkansson sent off a good shot on target. Martin Lindsten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henry Holm in the 25th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Lindsten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Martin Lindsten managed to avoid a goal in the 51stth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Martin Lindsten made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luis Andino in the 56th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Sneaky sneeks's Henry Holm. But to his dismay, Henry Holm quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 62ndth minute of the game Hans Håkansson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Holm in the 63rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Lindsten. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Primitivo Andino charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Primitivo Andino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sneaky sneeks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven-Arne Arvidsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hans Håkansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans Håkansson in the 95th minute of play. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
