Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 17 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Harm Rooy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bjorn Kuijpers kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Zuidema in the 35th minute of play. Harm Rooy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Dalwhinnie Boys's Robert-Jan ten Rouwelaar got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Zuidema in the 42nd minute of play.

Harm Rooy was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 84th minute of play forced The Dalwhinnie Boys's goalkeeper Harm Rooy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, The Dalwhinnie Boys's Harm Rooy got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
