The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Illescas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cveto Novinec. That made the score 3-1 in the 82 minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Orlando Sasoin during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 88th minute, Orlando Sasoin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Minas Markomichalis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. FC Koper's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
