After a defensive mix-up in SC Duisburg 2012's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yu Ming Nan came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yu Ming Nan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 47th minute, Sonny Tirtana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

SC Duisburg 2012's Ab Surdo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Tombolo Wa Kadima De Reckheim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yu Ming Nan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Geert Vedder kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match.
