Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Lucílio Figueiras kicked off to start the match. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Sporting Clube de Gaya's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Renato Vargas quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Renato Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Renato Vargas. Sporting Clube de Gaya's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Lucílio Figueiras who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Vargas having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Sporting Clube de Gaya defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Renato Vargas. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Renato Vargas should have stopped the shot. 40 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas. Renato Vargas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 43 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Renato Vargas was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 45 minutes, Agustín Saelices mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Sporting Clube de Gaya players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Renato Vargas made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Renato Vargas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Vargas having to interfere. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Renato Vargas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Renato Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 87th minute, which Renato Vargas however easily saved by the left post. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Renato Vargas made a huge save. 93 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Lucílio Figueiras sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
