Anibal Cordoba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The referee felt a red card was in order, 20 minutes into the game, when Arsen Levidze put in a rough tackle. After 22 minutes Juantxis Futbol Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 26 minutes into the game, Juantxis Futbol Club's Ponc Roig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anibal Cordoba having to interfere. The Mexico fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Mexico were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Anibal Cordoba in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Juantxis Futbol Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Juantxis Futbol Club's Anibal Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Zorita in the 80th minute of play. Juantxis Futbol Club's Guillermo Santiago was substituted for Arturo Rivera. In the 82nd minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Lautaro Mancebo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Anibal Cordoba quite easily take care of the ball. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juvenal Llorente in the 87th minute of the match. Luca Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anibal Cordoba having to interfere. After 92 played minutes Juantxis Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Edelmiro Hidalgo.
