Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Miguel Berbiz started the match with the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerardo Florin got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 5 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Salvador Maldonado. Salvador Maldonado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. After having played for 14 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Florin in the 17th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in GrondofiSu FC's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruperto Platon came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jose Correa fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Jose Correa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the game, Guillermo Mariano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GrondofiSu FC the free kick. 27 minutes into the game, one of Venezuela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruperto Platon was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. In the 33rd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Platon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. GrondofiSu FC's Ruperto Platon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 38th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Rigoberto Mina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GrondofiSu FC the free kick. In the 47th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gerardo Florin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. In the 60th minute Antonio Raitin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Berbiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Salvador Maldonado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruperto Platon. GrondofiSu FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patricio Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. With his leg Ruperto Platon managed to avoid a goal in the 74thth minute, when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 78th minute, Miguel Berbiz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GrondofiSu FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Ruperto Platon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. In the 87th minute, Rigoberto Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gerardo Florin missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 89 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Jonathan Ferrant right hand side. 96 minutes into the game, Leandro Caradaro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GrondofiSu FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 96th minute, Leandro Caradaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 97 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. GrondofiSu FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
