Dennis Berardo struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valdieri. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edoardo Rinaldi in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of Valdieri booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Covarrubias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edoardo Rinaldis short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Jacobo Nores to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 22 minutes, Alfonso Aloisi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Valdieri and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfonso Aloisi hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, Hector Covarrubias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute Dennis Berardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the game, Edoardo Rinaldi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edoardo Rinaldi in the 42nd minute of the match. 43 minutes into the match, Hector Covarrubias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alberto Andreola. Valdieri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hector Covarrubias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 47 minutes into the game, Antonio Forte threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Raul Venegas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. Edoardo Rinaldi might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Nores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edoardo Rinaldi ran back to his position shaking his head. Antonio Forte made in the 59th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Alfonso Aloisi however managed to control. After 68 played minutes Valdieri got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Stefano. After 78 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Hector Covarrubias. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano got a free kick in the 80th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Edoardo Rinaldi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Edoardo Rinaldi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, Xavier Zoido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Berardo came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Hector Covarrubias recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Alberto Andreola. Hector Covarrubias showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edoardo Rinaldi in the 94th minute of play. Paraguay were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
