The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Ecuador booed when NECKER49 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Gonzáles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Sebastián Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Joel Cristofor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joel Cristofor was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 40thth minute of the game John Skytt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Riki Čapo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. NECKER49's supporters crossed their fingers, but Riki Čapo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. John Skytt was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Skytt, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Joel Cristofor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 63rd minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. NECKER49's Isidoro Fagondo was substituted for Silvano Casanova. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leandro Haritzeder in the 77th minute of the match. A nice corner shot did that Basilio Hegoi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 82 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Fagondo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind NECKER49's goalkeeper Joel Cristofor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joel Cristofor. That made the score 2-1 after 85 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isidoro Fagondo in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Haritzeder in the 95th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The NECKER49 support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
