ATHLETICO PRaiano's Iuri Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Viana in the 2nd minute of play. In the 3rd minute, Túlio Negri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvinho Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitor José having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Paulo Vidal during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 17th match minute, ATHLETICO PRaiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Paulo Vidal to maneuver through the defense. Vitor José made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Silvinho Amorim sent off a good shot on target. Vitor José came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by ATHLETICO PRaiano's Silvinho Amorim. But to his dismay, Silvinho Amorim quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 28th minute, Silvinho Amorim left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ATHLETICO PRaiano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Iuri Arruda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Carlos Gaspar in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Carlos Alberto Viana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iuri Arruda. ATHLETICO PRaiano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Alberto Viana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Gugu Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitor José having to interfere. A collision led to ATHLETICO PRaiano getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Gugu Leme hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Silvinho Amorim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's João Carlos Gaspar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Iuri Arruda. That made the score 2-2 after 58 minutes of play. If Ladislao Mazurkiewicz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to ATHLETICO PRaiano getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Virgílio Maia hit a great ball. After 82 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Iuri Paranaense. In the 83rd minute Silvinho Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitor José saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Silvinho Amorim took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vitor José. Vitor José dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. After 96 played minutes ATHLETICO PRaiano got a freekick which was hit by Virgílio Maia.
