Caio Rosa tried in the game's 8th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Vitor José. An annoying self made goal, 1-0. After 13 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Ivo Mello. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu. But to his dismay, Marcel Abreu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. 31 minutes into the match, Karaboudjan's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Abreu came free, but Elano Travassos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Karaboudjan defense, Leopoldo Sanches kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elano Travassos. The Karaboudjan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elano Travassos should have stopped the shot. 45 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Leopoldo Sanches sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elano Travassos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcel Abreu in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elano Travassos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-5.
