Carlos Lousada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Konrad Tøndergaard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Juliano Pinhal got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sidónio Silva to strike the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Salmanton in the 54th minute of play. In the 55thth minute of the game Sidónio Silva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oswaldo Salmanton in the 57th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oswaldo Salmanton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. When SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Sidónio Silva in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidónio Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 72 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sidónio Silva came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute of the match Juliano Pinhal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. 80 minutes into the match, SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's goalkeeper Konrad Tøndergaard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. In the 82nd minute Sidónio Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Normando Vilas Boas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ecuador eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
