When Nilmar Almeida fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wolves's protests and gave Nilmar Almeida a yellow card for diving instead. Nilmar Almeida hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the match, Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Leonas Mažeika reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leonas Mažeika showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Dovydas Aleknius tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Arnas Užkuraitis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 28 minutes, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Tafalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Luca Zorita hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Arnas Užkuraitis could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Dante Lacasa however easily saved by the left post. After 34 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dovydas Aleknius who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Wolves's corner Dovydas Aleknius fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dante Lacasa quite easily take care of the ball. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dovydas Aleknius went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Wolves getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Dovydas Aleknius hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute, Joel Gaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonas Mažeika having to interfere.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 50th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Wolves getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Borys Weyna hit a great ball. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolás Roche in the 53rd minute of play. Leonas Mažeika took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute Wolves were awarded a corner. Dovydas Aleknius went to the cornerflag to take it. Leonas Mažeika took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Mancebo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dovydas Aleknius in the 68th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wolves's Leonas Mažeika proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Wolves from getting a goal against them. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnas Užkuraitis in the 74th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnas Užkuraitis, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Nilmar Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Leonas Mažeika acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 80th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Joel Gaona. 82 minutes into the match, Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Leonas Mažeika reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dovydas Aleknius in the 84th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnas Užkuraitis in the 85th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonas Mažeika made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Wolves's Nicolás Roche got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 95th minute by Joel Gaona got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Despite being the better team, Mexico failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
