Eduardo Fontirroig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Molin having to interfere. 43 minutes into the game, Eduardo Fontirroig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bolivia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Östavall the free kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julio Chicote couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Chicote in the 89th minute of play forced Östavall's goalkeeper Johnny Molin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
