Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viorel Moldovan in the 3rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Timmy Kjellkvist having to make a save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Hans was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frankie De Jong didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 13th minute of play forced FC Hans's goalkeeper Timmy Kjellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the FC Hans defense, Agustín Saelices kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timmy Kjellkvist. The FC Hans fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timmy Kjellkvist should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Timmy Kjellkvist prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 19th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timmy Kjellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Timmy Kjellkvist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. A collision led to FC Hans getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Emílio Pessoa hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timmy Kjellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
When Javier Riguera fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Hans's protests and gave Javier Riguera a yellow card for diving instead. In the 53rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Timmy Kjellkvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. FC Hans's Xiao Wei Yan was substituted for Viorel Moldovan. Timmy Kjellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Timmy Kjellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 67th minute of play. When Xiao Wei Yan came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the FC Hans fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xiao Wei Yan couldn't finish the play. FC Hans made a substitution. Ulf Arvidsson replaced Sivert Björklund. FC Hans's Timmy Kjellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 74th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, FC Hans's Xiao Wei Yan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 80th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Timmy Kjellkvist could save by the left post. 81 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ulf Arvidsson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd minute Xiao Wei Yan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xiao Wei Yan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Xiao Wei Yan's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Timmy Kjellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xiao Wei Yan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Hans.
