After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Asmadi Subagio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Asmadi Subagio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roberto Peyo hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Octav Lupșoiu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Octav Lupșoiu charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Octav Lupșoiu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th minute Asmadi Subagio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Gaudencio Corderun. Delaostia C.F's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaudencio Corderun having to interfere. Gaudencio Corderun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaudencio Corderun prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Asmadi Subagio in the 45th minute of play.

In the 51st minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luis Andino received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gaudencio Corderun came out and tried to block the shot, but Luis Andino slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 58th minute of play forced Delaostia C.F's goalkeeper Gaudencio Corderun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Delaostia C.F's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. 2-2 became the score in the 63rd minute when Asmadi Subagio elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Delaostia C.F was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ove Löv didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Gaudencio Corderun made a huge save. 71 minutes into the match, Delaostia C.F's goalkeeper Gaudencio Corderun had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 77th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gaudencio Corderun skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Delaostia C.F getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Columbo Duarte hit a great ball. Gaudencio Corderun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 80th minute of the match. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Delaostia C.F's goalie and right to Juan Sebastián Puig. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Delaostia C.F's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Gaudencio Corderun skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gaudencio Corderun stood somewhat misplaced when Daniel Zorita came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 88 minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ove Löv, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
