A sloppy throw-in by Roland Freytag in the 17th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mexico's Leonardo Leoz. Nicolai Nowak hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Karl-Åke Brummer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karl-Åke Brummer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the game, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Lacasa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucjan Bejger to make the kick off. Luca Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl-Åke Brummer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. In the 54thth minute of the game Lucjan Bejger who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Roland Freytag's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karl-Åke Brummer was a little too slow when Alberto Tafalla got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 88th minute. The score was now 2-4. In the 92nd minute, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-5. The Lanzenkirchen fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
