The referee ignored Peru's protests and gave Alonso Berganza a yellow card for diving instead. Alonso Berganza hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolando Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Delinquentes Futbol Club players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
