Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Guilherme Cunha in the 17th minute of play. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Lara Peñaranda made a huge save. Axel Tasiss short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Lara Peñaranda to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lara Peñaranda having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Sidney Carneiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Beneficiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After 36 minutes of play, Beneficiente's Luís Guilherme Cunha made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 39 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Guilherme Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Sidney Carneiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Luís Guilherme Cunha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Guilherme Cunha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Carl Quinn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgar Appel kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Sidney Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Guilherme Cunha in the 65th minute of play. In the 70th minute Luís Guilherme Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidney Carneiro in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Aguiar in the 73rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Beneficiente's Dida Senna got a free kick in the 74th minute. Sidney Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 79th minute, Joélson Pitta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eliseo Noboa charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Noboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. After having played for 86 minutes, Sidney Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Beneficiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Beneficiente were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
