The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean-Marie Sanquer was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Hercule Basque's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Armand Mondon struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Perthes United. Patrice Lambolez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 26th minute of play forced Perthes United's goalkeeper Jean-Marie Sanquer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loïc Curt scored 1-0 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Marie Sanquer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Loïc Curt charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Loïc Curt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd minute, Loïc Curt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Armand Mondon's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. In the 35th minute of the match, Loïc Curt tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armand Mondon in the 36th minute of play. In the 38th minute of the match Perthes United got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Patrice Lambolez ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 39th minute of the match, Armand Mondon tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Florian Boitel made in the 44th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Hercule Basque immediately put the ball in play. After 47 minutes, Tomas Illescas made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Perthes United's Jean-Marie Sanquer tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armand Mondon, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Fernand Pierrel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Marie Sanquer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 65th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jean-Marie Sanquer. Jean-Marie Sanquer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jean-Marie Sanquer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Marie Sanquer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Octave Langevin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Salvador Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Armand Mondon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Armand Mondon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Venezuela succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Perthes United had controlled the match.
