Stiliyan Komsalov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 5th minute of play. Toma Mortev's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stiliyan Komsalov having to interfere. Stiliyan Komsalov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stiliyan Komsalov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
