The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Sforza came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alvaro Sforza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristoforo Brillante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 9th minute of the match. Julian Murillo scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cristoforo Brillante, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Sforza came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alessio Odisio took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind AC Roma's goalkeeper Cristoforo Brillante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Sforza, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristoforo Brillante. AC Roma's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvaro Sforza in the 34th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Murillo made a kick off. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Sforza in the 53rd minute of play. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 65th minute of the match Peru got a corner. AC Roma's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristoforo Brillante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind AC Roma's goalkeeper Cristoforo Brillante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristoforo Brillante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
