An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Pinti in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Damiano Battisti was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 34 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fausto Pinti who took care of the corner kick. Iosif Gherase sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Eurospeed Asti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Chiesa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 39th match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Damiano Battisti was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Federico Chiesa hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Fausto Pinti sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Pinti in the 60th minute of play. In the 62nd minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Damiano Battisti was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 80 minutes into the game, Federico Chiesa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Eurospeed Asti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 83rd minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elia Pietrantoni in the 84th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Pinti in the 87th minute of play. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Damiano Battisti when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 90th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Damiano Battisti didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score.
