With an all-out effort, Xurupita FC's Rolando Noboa threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emerson Jacaré, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 8 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Xurupita FC's Gustavo Coelho. Gustavo Coelho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gilvan Ceresso made in the 19th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Jorge Pombal however managed to control. 20 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustavo Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 26th minute of play forced Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Peru booed when Xurupita FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lilian Vântu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustavo Coelho came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 33 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustavo Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 34th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Xurupita FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Coelho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Milagros Fraga might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gustavo Coelho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Milagros Fraga ran back to his position shaking his head. Peru's attentive Anthony Alvarado managed to snatch the ball when Gilvan Ceresso made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 54th match minute, Xurupita FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilvan Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. Gustavo Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 55th minute of play. Xurupita FC's Gustavo Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 58th minute of play. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Coelho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gustavo Coelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. A throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game was made by Gilvan Ceresso with Rowley McJon as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After 74 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Julian Murillo. Eliseo Mina was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 76th minute. Peru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 76th minute of play forced Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Alonso Berganza managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gilvan Ceresso in the 81 minute of the game. Gustavo Coelho made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Rafael Gallo sent off a good shot on target. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Gustavo Coelho made a huge save. Gustavo Coelho was a little too slow when Rafael Gallo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 88th minute. The score was now 0-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Rafael Gallo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Gallo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Coelho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
