The audience thought a goal was coming when Cassius Byrne got free with Isaltino Durr in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Sävedalen:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of USA:s goal. Cassius Byrne took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Isaltino Durr. Isaltino Durr dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Isaltino Durr showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After having played for 26 minutes, Monty Rogers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. USA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Monty Rogers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 27 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Per-Olof Collin came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Isaltino Durr made a huge save. If Monty Rogers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. USA's Marco Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per-Olof Collin in the 40th minute of play. After 41 minutes, Per Mårtensson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sävedalen and the USA players grew even worse after the yellow card. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
