The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Çakır Alyakut showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Su Čuk in the 3rd minute of the match. Su Čuk might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Çakır Alyakut. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Su Čuk ran back to his position shaking his head. The corner was taken by Hüseyin Rahmi Emektar in the 26th minute. In the 43rd minute Su Čuk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Çakır Alyakut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 46 played minutes U21 Turkey got a freekick which was hit by Mete Tavukcu. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Su Čuk got free with Çakır Alyakut in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
