An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Diagur in the 22nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Capdevilla booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Tafallas short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Pastor Valery to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Capdevilla's Pastor Valery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Capdevilla's Victorio Lehior got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Maju in the 37th minute of play. Capdevilla's Pastor Valery proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Capdevilla from getting a goal against them.

Capdevilla's Carolo Christobal was substituted for Filomeno Hitz. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Capdevilla's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Miguel Diagur might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Diagur ran back to his position shaking his head. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Diagur, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 79 minutes into the match, Alberto Tafalla notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Capdevilla's Pastor Valery. Pastor Valery was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
