Velester Football Club's Ferdinando Scarinci proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Velester Football Club from getting a goal against them. 11 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ferdinando Scarinci, 1-0. 16 minutes into the match, Velester Football Club's Adriano Carafa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th match minute, Velester Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Carafa to maneuver through the defense. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ferdinando Scarinci having to make a save. Velester Football Club's Adriano Carafa got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Velester Football Club's Emanuel Gliga got a free kick in the 36th minute. When Antonio Gulli fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velester Football Club's protests and gave Antonio Gulli a yellow card for diving instead. Antonio Gulli hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Ferdinando Scarinci made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 47th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Carafa came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Comunardo Valente was the one to do the kick off. Velester Football Club's Adriano Carafa got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st minute of the match, Adriano Carafa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Thiago Pliego was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 65th minute of play forced Velester Football Club's goalkeeper Ferdinando Scarinci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Velester Football Club made a substitution. Pietro Romeo replaced Betão Camargo. Mariano Lacasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Ferdinando Scarinci tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Velester Football Club's Amos Marchesani was substituted for Antonio Gulli. Ferdinando Scarinci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinando Scarinci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Carafa in the 83rd minute of play. After 85 minutes of play, Velester Football Club's Adriano Carafa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thiago Pliego was left in no man's land by his defense there! 89 minutes into the match, Velester Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Ferdinando Scarinci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adriano Carafa in the 91st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Velester Football Club's Amos Marchesani slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Thiago Pliego. That made the score 2-2 after 95 minutes of play. Despite being the better team, Chile failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
