Lars Norberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven Nordkvist in the 16th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 20th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Kaj Hård kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 2-0 in the 25 minute of play. Atakan Pepes short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 40th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. After 41 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Kaj Hård tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lars Norberg saved spikarna from getting behind. Atakan Pepe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Kaj Hård scored 4-0 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Birger Bergström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kaj Hård in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Lars Norberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. spikarna's Olof Hamnberg was substituted for Niklas Söderberg.
