Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ernesto Giandomenico came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Manfredonia Calcio 1932 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernesto Giandomenico couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Manfredonia Calcio 1932's Florian Frezza got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 36th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Torelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Manfredonia Calcio 1932's Alfredo Torelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute of play. A collision led to Manfredonia Calcio 1932 getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Christian Buonanno hit a great ball. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
