Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ekrem Ahi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lautaro Mancebo in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ekrem Ahi saved MK Kamer Spor Kulübü from getting behind. 23 minutes into the match, MK Kamer Spor Kulübü's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Ekrem Ahi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a little luck, MK Kamer Spor Kulübü's Ekrem Ahi got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute Mexico were awarded a corner.
