Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) USA's Cassius Byrne started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute, Tony Påk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 8th minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A throw-in in the 10th minute of the game was made by Raphael Moore with Edward Mcdonald as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuel Fiúza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Mcdonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Cassius Byrne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Fiúza having to interfere. Samuel Fiúza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Mcdonald in the 24th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, USA's Cassius Byrne nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuel Fiúza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 34 minutes of play, USA's Monty Rogers made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Samuel Fiúza was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 37 minutes, Tony Påk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gremio Viana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tony Påk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. USA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cassius Byrne in the 40th minute. After taking down the ball on USA's corner Jenson Smith fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Samuel Fiúza quite easily take care of the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Jenson Smith cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Samuel Fiúza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cassius Byrne in the 42nd minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Samuel Fiúza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Monty Rogers scored 0-4 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Samuel Fiúza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 50th minute of play. Samuel Fiúza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cassius Byrne in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Mcdonald. After 58 minutes, Joaquim Paredes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gremio Viana and the USA players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 59 played minutes Gremio Viana got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Paredes. In the 61st match minute, Gremio Viana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Påk to maneuver through the defense. Edward Mcdonald's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Samuel Fiúza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Gremio Viana made a substitution. Mohamed Ali Bomba replaced Severino Torcato. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. 75 minutes into the game, Jacob May threw the ball into play from the sideline. Gremio Viana's Amado Melo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 77th minute of play. Sam Campbell who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Samuel Fiúza when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Khalid Parry in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Samuel Fiúza saved Gremio Viana from getting behind. In the 93rd minute of the match USA got a corner. Gremio Viana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jenson Smith ran over to the corner to take the kick.
