Marcos Cotilla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 16 minutes into the match, Gianluca Vialli had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gianluca Vialli was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose Baldovino in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Panama's Tomas Berganza got a free kick in the 28th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Panama's zone, Arnulfo Evis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal and Arnulfo Evis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gianluca Vialli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gianluca Vialli was the one to do the kick off. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gianluca Vialli scored 0-4 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. After 75 minutes, Urbano Shantala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Falckner FC and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. Panama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 82nd minute, when Jose Baldovino scored to the left of an out of position Marcos Cotilla, making the score, 0-6. 86 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Falckner FC the free kick. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Tomas Berganza hit a great ball. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Falckner FC's Octavio Gorosti. But to his dismay, Octavio Gorosti quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. The Falckner FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
