Ivan Navarro made in the 7th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Sebastian Villa. Stephen Mercieca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 9th minute of play. Stephen Mercieca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Villa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A throw-in in the 18th minute of the game was made by Milagros Cabal with Sebastian Villa as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 20 minutes into the game, Christian Sancho threw the ball into play from the sideline. Filfla United's Mike Schiavone quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Edmundo Espiga took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stephen Mercieca. Stephen Mercieca dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 25th minute of the match Milagros Cabal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stephen Mercieca skillfully saved the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Filfla United's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo Espiga came free, but Stephen Mercieca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Honduras booed when Filfla United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Lowell didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 minutes, Brandon Lowell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Filfla United and the Honduras players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, Brandon Lowell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rdth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Filfla United's Stephen Mercieca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Filfla United's Stephen Mercieca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Villa in the 34th minute of play. In the 37th minute Sebastian Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Mercieca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stephen Mercieca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Moises Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Edmundo Espiga had several of the Filfla United's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 56 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-7 score and a disappointed Stephen Mercieca as he didn't even see the shot coming. When Milagros Cabal fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Honduras's protests and gave Milagros Cabal a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Milagros Cabal. Stephen Mercieca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 61st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Espiga in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stephen Mercieca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 63 minutes into the match, Sebastian Villa notched a goal, 0-8, to the right of Filfla United's Stephen Mercieca. Stephen Mercieca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Edmundo Espiga scored 0-9 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stephen Mercieca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Edmundo Espiga put it in 0-10 from a short distance just to the right of Stephen Mercieca. After 88 minutes of play, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga made it 0-13 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stephen Mercieca was left in no man's land by his defense there! 96 minutes into the match, Filfla United's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo Espiga came free, but Stephen Mercieca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Honduras could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Filfla United throughout the match.
