Wellington Phoenix's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bebeto Branco ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led U21 Brazil's Bebeto Branco to fire away a dangerous shot which Luiz Paulo Mazza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 102 minutes Wellington Phoenix's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lionel Messias who took care of the corner kick. Wellington Phoenix's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
