The supporters of Ecuador booed when Спартак was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitaliy Eliseev didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Zinoviy Bronnikov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Zinoviy Bronnikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vitaliy Eliseev made a kick off. Aleksandr Sibirev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Спартак defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev. The Спартак fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aleksandr Sibirev should have stopped the shot. Aleksandr Sibirev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of play. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Спартак's goalie prevented a goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aleksandr Sibirev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Aleksandr Sibirev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 69th minute of play. Aleksandr Sibirev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Armin Mustakivi kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho scored 4-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 80th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aleksandr Sibirev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Aleksandr Sibirev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of play forced Спартак's goalkeeper Aleksandr Sibirev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vitaliy Eliseev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
