Lütfi Kutlubay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Lütfi Kutlubay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 26th minute of play. After 27 played minutes Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa got a freekick which was hit by Joélson Massa. 30 minutes into the match, Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's goalkeeper Lütfi Kutlubay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 35th minute of play forced Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's goalkeeper Lütfi Kutlubay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lütfi Kutlubay having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's Claudinei Terra got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's goalkeeper Lütfi Kutlubay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lautaro Mancebo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Lütfi Kutlubay when he managed to save the team from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sal Darby to make the kick off. The supporters of Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's João Carlos Mesquita got a free kick in the 54th minute. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lütfi Kutlubay having to interfere. In the 59th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lütfi Kutlubay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Luca Zorita heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Alberto Tafalla hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. If Facundo Cadaval had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Carlos Mesquita in the 73rd minute of play. Lütfi Kutlubay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 75th minute of play. Lütfi Kutlubay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luca Zorita went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Lütfi Kutlubay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zanko Shosev in the 92nd minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Mexico fully deserved thier win.
