Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Alberto Tevez to make the kick off. With a little luck, National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montes came free, but Pål Sefastsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 69th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Pål Sefastsson. National Team Cape-Verde's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. In the 73rd minute of the match National Team Cape-Verde got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leon Fasgar ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Leon Fasgar got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
