After having played for 47 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cícero Teles was the one to do the kick off. When Luca Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luca Zorita couldn't finish the play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Åke Alkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. After 68 minutes, Viggo Berggren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salem Gunners BK and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lautaro Mancebo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prodromos Britzolidis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. Mexico were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
