Nippur de Lagash 2's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Casimiro Cordarell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. Nippur de Lagash 2's Tito Chayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tito Chayo having to interfere. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hernan Lehen was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Nippur de Lagash 2 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernan Lehen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Nippur de Lagash 2 fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 88th minute. Penalty! Nippur de Lagash 2:s Tito Chayo showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. In the 97th minute, Benjamin Navarro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
