In the 24th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jesus Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. Krum Konsulov hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abram Luque to make the kick off.
