Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Palmeira's Mário Saldanha started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Rossi having to interfere. After taking down the ball on Palmeira's corner Marquinhos Gaspar fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Palmeira's Mário Saldanha in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. The Palmeira fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Palmeira's Adhemar Sá looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Palmeira's Ediberto Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play. Palmeira's Adhemar Sá came free and shot a quick shot against goal 21 minutes in the game, fortunately Julio Vera had problems saving as it came toward the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Sá in the 25th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ediberto Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ediberto Rossi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mário Saldanha went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Palmeira's Ediberto Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ediberto Rossi narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
