The referee ignored De Gulden Draak's protests and gave Anselm Neuhäuser a yellow card for diving instead. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manuel Peres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After a rather tough play, De Gulden Draak's Dieter Strelow got a free kick in the 34th minute. Siim Kikas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The wind increased when Manuel Peres made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rigoberto Mina the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rigoberto Mina had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 63rd minute Manuel Peres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
