Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Genaro Quiroga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but River Plate's Genaro Quiroga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 9 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Genaro Quiroga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 12 minutes, Romulo Casado made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Genaro Quiroga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Romulo Casado reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romulo Casado in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 29th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Genaro Quiroga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romulo Casado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eleuterio Efraim to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of River Plate booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Romulo Casado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Romulo Casado slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 38th minute.

In the 51st minute Romulo Casado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romulo Casado scored 4-0 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eleuterio Efraim was slow to take the kick. During this time River Plate's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 62nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Romulo Casado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romulo Casado in the 64th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, River Plate's Romulo Casado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 68thth minute, Genaro Quiroga skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. River Plate made a substitution. Nemesio Azeari replaced Erik Albuquerque. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute, Remigio Cugat sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ecuador's Julio Vera didn't even have to move. After 80 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Genaro Quiroga was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 83rd minute Romulo Casado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romulo Casado in the 86th minute of the match. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Romulo Casado. But to his dismay, Romulo Casado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Genaro Quiroga made a huge save. 96 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Romulo Casado came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but River Plate were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
