Felix Montenegro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Holger Vester made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Holger Vester didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
